Cinema 21 Presents Learning To Live Together The Return of Mad Dogs & Englishmen Documentary @ Cinema 21
Jan 23 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Cinema 21 features the Portland premier of Learning to Live Together The Return of Mad Dogs and Englishmen. The film is an electrifying documentary and concert film spotlighting the reunion of the celebrated Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Joe Cocker’s short-lived tour featuring a mammoth thirty-six piece band – including Bobby Torres.  Watch the official trailer for “Learning To Live Together: The Return of Mad Dogs & Englishmen”.  Enjoy the film, learn some Rock’N-Roll history, be touched by the stories, sing and clap along to this concert film featuring old and new footage of concerts and interviews of band members. Live moderated Q&A with Director Jesse Lauter and Bobby Torres to follow the screening.

Film Background: After his explosive performance at Woodstock, Joe Cocker became an international superstar. For his 1970 US Tour, Joe enlisted Leon Russel to assemble a group of 36 musicians, that would forever be known as “Mad Dogs & Englishmen”. The Mad Dogs never performed again until the remaining members joined Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi on stage, before a crowd of 35,000 people, at the Lock-N Festival in Virginia in 2015 – some 45 years later. The original members (including the late Rock’n’Roll Hall of Famer Leon Russell) and the reunion organizers (Grammy Award-winning Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi) tell the story of the original Mad Dogs tour and the reunion, both are highlighted by inspired performances.

Bobby Torres Fans – This film includes footage of Bobby as an original member of the Mad Dogs and Englishmen band and footage of Bobby during the 2015 Mad Dogs reunion concert. In the following videos, you can see Bobby on the congas behind Susan Tedeschi with Chris Robinson singing “With a Little Help From My Friends” and “Space Captain” .

Official selection of the Woodstock Film Festival (2021) and the Raindance Film Festival (2021) Directed & Produced by Jesse Lauter Executive Producers: Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, John Beug, Thomas Tull, Alba Ellis & Bert Ellis Producers: Wayne Forte & Blake Budney Edited by Drew DeNicola. Film length 111 min.
